Concepts for Domestic and Foreign Security

WELP Armouring held its inaugural Security Forum in Wilkau-Haßlau on 11 May 2017 titled „Concepts for Domestic and Foreign Security“, which focused on the most recent threat levels in Europe.

The event centred on tactical armoured police vehicles from WELP Armouring as well as speeches on a variety of security topics, such as the latest ballistic material technologies, risk monitoring in areas of conflict, the challenges posed by virtual detonations on security vehicles, and much more. The range of activities also included panel discussions, tours of the company, live demonstrations and intensive demandbased talks.

Over 100 guests from government agencies, embassies, representatives from the armoured vehicle departments of car makers (OEMs) and international security representatives were in attendance. The event“s exhibitors included Klöckner Stahl, GKN, Enginox, Hutchinson, Isoclima, Udo Röck, Daimler Trucks, Audi AG, NH Power, Vela Performance and Pewag. Audi AG showed the armoured Audi A8 L Security, for example, and Daimler Trucks the armoured Mercedes Benz Zetros, while WELP Armouring exhibited the new „F2-TLC700-Toyota Land Cruiser 200“ police vehicle.

Other security solutions were also on display, such as the innovative mobile surveillance tower presented by Udo Röck. The aim of this device is to secure border crossings and provide security at major events. The event was also an opportunity to tour the company and then witness a shooting display at the in-house firing range.

True to the slogan, „everything“s in flux, everything“s in motion“, the company“s latest service feature „hot warming“ was also presented. To this end, a „Technology Centre for Press Hardening“ has been built and recently opened. The potential and enthusiasm for innovation of the WELP Armouring brand was once again on display for all to see during a live demonstration of the press hardening process.

Ronald Gerschewski, Managing Director at IndiKar Individualkarosseriebau GmbH and Farmingtons Automotive GmbH, said after the event: „We never rest on our laurels but constantly strive to expand on our standing in the „armouring“ field and satisfy the demand of government agencies in Germany.“

Those attending the Security Forum had nothing but praise for the event. Nils Haack, Product Manager Ocean & Business Development Sales at Enginox commented: „To our mind, this was a really well-organised event and a great deal of fun.“

Over the next few years, the plan is to develop the Security Forum into an established annual gathering for people in the trade and to alternate between Georgsmarienhütte and Wilkau- Haßlau as the host location.
