SCHEMA Is a Guest at the 8th Content Management Strategies Conference and DITA Europe 2012 at the Hilton Hotel in Frankfurt

For the eighth time now, the Content Management Strategies Conference and DITA Europe 2012 will take place in Frankfurt, this year for the first time in the impressive Hilton Hotel. From November 12-13, 2012, companies are invited to an exchange about DITA. Many different companies will be giving lectures or are participating as exhibitors, as is SCHEMA, the manufacturer of the XML-based editing system SCHEMA ST4.

Already in the 1990s SCHEMA recognized that modularization is essential for increasing efficiency in industrial text production. This is possible through DITA, Darwin Information Architecture. DITA is a structure description for texts which classifies content into thematic fragments (topics) of different types. Integrating these topics via references (maps), allows for repeated reuse of text without having to create and maintain redundant copies.
This modularized concept forms the methodical basis for SCHEMA ST4, making SCHEMA ST4 ideal for DITA. Different inheritance mechanisms were implemented in the editing system ST4, providing direct support for DITA-structured information. The inheritance hierarchies of the DITA-structured documents are represented graphically in SCHEMA ST4, making information modules and the associated structures (hierarchies, interconnections and metadata) transparent and easy to edit.
Conversely, from the information structures and modules, SCHEMA ST4 can generate DITA documents for maps (topic compositions), additionally incorporating information for the reuse in other DITA systems. These maps can be combined easily in a graphical user interface by using drag-and-drop.
This is extremely useful, easy to implement and saves time!
Andrew Potapczuk and Christof Muehlan from Ericsson Telekommunikation GmbH & Co. KG. share this opinion. Their lecture „Getting the Most Out of Content Reuse“, on November 12, 2012, at 2:30 pm at the Content Management Strategies Conference and DITA Europe 2012, provides further information on DITA.

SCHEMA GmbH was founded in 1995 by a team of IT and documentation specialists in Nürnberg, and is represented by 90 employees in five locations.

SCHEMA’s flagship standard software is the XML-based editing and content management system SCHEMA ST4, offering efficient features for all aspects of creating, managing, and publishing complex and large amounts of documentation. SCHEMA ST4’s scalability makes it suitable for small editing teams as well as for company-wide solutions for information logistics.

The system is used successfully across a wide range of industries to manage all tasks around complex documentation, including technical documentation, software documentation and help systems, catalogs, labeling for pharmaceutical companies, solutions for specialized publishers, contract and bid management.

Implemented in Microsoft .NET Framework, SCHEMA can easily be integrated into modern IT environments, as it supports the entire bandwidth of documentation-relevant standards (XML, XSL:FO, DITA, etc.) and boasts a wide range of interfaces (MS Office, Adobe CS, SAP, Documentum, SharePoint). SCHEMA is proud to be part of a network of renowned partners, as this enables SCHEMA to offer specialized solutions for its customers as well.

Among the many customers already using solutions based on SCHEMA ST4 are: ABB, Agilent, Avaloq, Bosch, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bundesanzeiger Verlagsgesellschaft, Carl Zeiss, Daimler, Deutsche Bundesbank, General Electric, Hewlett Packard, InterComponentWare, Lindauer DORNIER, MAN, Miele, NERO, Österreichische Bundesbahnen, Philips, Reifenhäuser, Roche Diagnostics, Schaeffler Group, Siemens, STOLL, T-Systems, Voith and Wolffkran.
